"A Business of One's Own" is adopted and researched by the social security institute as a pioneer program for women from underprivileged populations in Israel

A fair is held for "A Business of One's Own" graduates at the City Center in Haifa.

EEW takes part in the 11th annual conference for women, gender studies and feminist theory hosted by the women's studies forum and NCJW, on the feminization of poverty – microenterprise as a strategy for escaping poverty and economically empowering women.

EEW takes part in a conference titled "It's Time For Small Businesses" at Leo Beck center in Haifa.

The first "A Business of One's Own" paper is published.

A fair is held for "A Business of One's Own" graduates in Jerusalem.

15 graduate's work is presented at a five day fair in New Brunswick New Jersey as part of a week on Jewish culture.

The first training course for Arab Facilitators takes place.

EEW moves to its offices at 102 Ha'atzmaut St. Haifa.

A fair is held for "A Business of One's Own" graduates at the Tel Aviv port with the help of Comme Il Faut

EEW takes part in the first seminar in Israel for organizations focusing on economic empowerment for women for strategic planning.

A business incubator opens in the north supported by the government's national social security institute

A loan fund is created for EEW participants:  "The Reshef Family Fund"

EEW begins running, for the first time in Israel, a program for financial education and savings for the future, suited to low-income women.

EEW take part in a conference in Tel Aviv on new directions in economic and community development for underprivileged populations in Israel.

EEW receives the Quality of Life prize from the Knesset chairperson for "Activity in Society and in the Community Aimed at Integrating Women from the Periphery into the Work Force."

An event is hosted with "Crazy Line."

EEW rents and renovates a building for a business incubator in Acco.

Business incubators begin in Beit Shemesh and in Abu Gosh with the support of The Cherie Blair Foundation.

EEW again wins a tender put out by the office of the prime minister's advisor this time on the status of women for economic development within Arab society, used for development courses amongst Arab women country wide.

Programs and Services

A Business of One's Own

A Business of One's Own:  EEW's flagship program has pioneered the field of entrepreneurship, economic empowerment and business training in Israel. A Business of One's Own is a yearlong program in which the participants, mostly from the geographic and social periphery, receive business training, and undergo a process of personal empowerment.  

Business Development Services

Business Development Services are provided over five years to grow existing businesses and increase the personal income earned from them. They include advanced business training and industry related seminars; Business Incubation; Business marathons; computer trainings; regional business forums; financial orientation and business coaching, both one-on-one and in small group.

Our Graduates
Since its establishment, EEW has served over 5,000 women from underprivileged populations in Israel, including ultraorthodox, Arabs, new immigrants, single parents, and women over 45. Activities have taken place in over 85 locations, and EEW has played an active role in the establishment and growth of over 1,800 small businesses in a variety of fields.
Community Partnerships

EEW is located in Haifa and runs programs throughout the country. These programs are run in cooperation with local municipalities, government agencies, NGO's and foundations that provide loans to small businesses and work in the field of economic empowerment and women. These partnerships are very valuable to EEW and enable us to reach hundreds of women every year and help them begin businesses of their own.
